How to Connect Google Search Console to your Squarespace site

Evvvvvverybody wants better SEO. And yet, somehow Squarespace users are often missing the very first, most simple step!

If you haven’t already — you have to sign up for the (free) Google Search Console. This is a free must-have service that helps your website get indexed in Google. If you’re wanting changes to your site to appear faster in Google, I promise — this will help.

If that isn’t convincing enough, once you’ve signed up for Google Search Console, you can seamlessly connect it in Squarespace! This connection beefs up your Analytics, letting you check out what keywords visitors are searching for to find your site! This is valuable information that… once again, is free!

Here are the super simple steps to get you there….

How to connect Google Search to your website for increased SEO and Analytics.

First thing: Create a Google Search Console account

1. If you haven't already, sign up for Google Search Console. Head to search.google.com/search-console/ and follow the directions for how to sign up. Once again, It's free!

You will need to know who hosts your domain and have access to that domain provider account. (i.e. Godaddy, Squarespace, Bluehost etc)

Once you have the console account set up, you can connect into your Website in Squarespace!

2. Connecting Squarespace to Google Search Console:

Log into your Squarespace site.
In the Settings menu, click Analytics. (If you can’t find Analytics in your Squarespace menu, click “/” and search for it!)
Click Search keywords.
Click Connect in the panel's pop-up.
Log into the Google account that you used to set up your Google Console account. If you have multiple Google accounts, ensure you select the correct one.
Review the permissions, then click Allow.
Wait 72 hours for the data to populate.

While you’re in Google Search Console, don’t forget to “submit your site map.” This will also help!
